New Zealand has joined Australia in trying to encourage experienced electricians to emigrate from the UK. A migration company based in Chester claims that the booming construction sectors in both countries means there is a stronger demand than ever for qualified professionals. The Canterbury rebuild also means there is an added demand for skilled construction workers in New Zealand at present.

Director Paul Arthur said that as well as there being more jobs to go round, those choosing to move to New Zealand could expect a better lifestyle, an improvement in the weather and a higher salary.

New Zealand and Australia remain top of the list of countries to move to for Brits looking for a change of job and a change in lifestyle. The Economist Intelligence Unit recently published a list of the world’s best cities to live in. Melbourne grabbed the top slot and Adelaide, Sydney and Auckland also featured in the top ten.

Arthur added that the biggest draw for Brits to a country like New Zealand was the job opportunities at a time when the UK is still experiencing the economic doldrums, a lack of jobs and pay freezes.

Both New Zealand and Australia offer long-term visas for foreign workers who meet the right skills requirements.
