New Zealand is one of the best places to live

New Zealand has ranked near the top of a list of the best places in the world in which to live. A poll conducted by Expat Explorer ranked the antipodean country sixth because of its good weather and attractive landscapes and scenery. The survey has been running for the last seven years and is commissioned by HSBC.

The independent survey interviewed 9300 expatriates from some 100 countries earlier this year. Questions were asked about a range of subjects including financial wellbeing, quality of life and how easy it is to raise a family.

Of the 34 countries listed, New Zealand took the sixth spot with Switzerland coming in at number one.

The survey revealed that New Zealand was considered the best place in which to raise a child, beating Japan, Germany and South Africa. Nearly all parents who responded to the survey agreed that the safety of their children had improved after they moved to New Zealand.

Health and education were also ranked highly. Other factors contributing to New Zealand’s position in the table were the scenery and the pleasant climate. Nearly three-quarters of those polled said the environment was better than at home and more than half claimed their children were healthier and more rounded since the move down under.
