Brits wanted for Christchurch rebuild

British construction workers and civil engineers have been targeted by New Zealand to become part of the team currently rebuilding the earthquake damaged city of Christchurch. An online show was broadcast at the weekend that was a cross between a jobs expo and a panel-based television programme.

Questions were answered by leading employers involved in the rebuilding projects including infrastructure, roads and water networks. They were there to answer broad queries on the projects being undertaken as well as questions on more specific subjects including life in the city and visas.

Brits who are interested in any of the jobs listed on the site can register and apply. According to Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Scheme spokesman Duncan Gibb, now is the perfect time for engineers and construction workers to consider relocating to New Zealand.

The earthquake of February 2011 was a disaster and Gibb says that British workers keen to get involved in the largest rebuild the country has ever seen will be extremely welcome.

There are a wide range of jobs available to skilled British workers including foremen, engineers, surveyors, project managers and drain layers. Brits who may not ever have considered moving abroad are also being targeted by the Kiwi authorities.
